Financial protection can have many different meanings. The most accepted meaning, and the one that covers the widest range of situations, however, is preventing financial loss.
The best way to safeguard your finances is with financial protection services from Quill. Loss can hit you in various ways, and one of the ways to mitigate it is with a carefully designed system of insurances that can cover most eventualities.
The big daddy of all insurances is life insurance, and you’ll certainly want to have that. This comes in two flavours. The first is standard life insurance that just covers you in the most simple way. The second is partly insurance and partly an investment. If you manage to survive past a certain age, your insurance converts and pays off like a term deposit.
A combination of private health insurance and income protection insurance is also very good to have. The private health insurance pays your medical costs in case of injury or serious illness (and sometimes some other non-urgent medical costs as well). Income protection insurance is what makes sure you don’t suffer any loss of income while you’re recovering from the injury or illness.
People sometimes get confused about this insurance, because they don’t understand what it means. They may reason that it’s not necessary to have this cover because Australian employers are required to have compulsory insurance for employees if they’re injured at work, and they can get paid sick leave when they become ill.
What they’re not taking into account is that not all injuries and illnesses are going to occur at work. If you slip on a banana peel at home, the most you’re likely to get from your employer is best wishes and a “get well soon” card. That won’t help when it’s time to pay the mortgage or the kids need money for school.
Even worse, if you’re injured or become ill outside the workplace and you need extended time off work, your employer is not really obligated to keep your job open for you. There is always the possibility of losing your job.
Income protection insurance will allow you to earn anything from 75% to 100% of your regular salary (depending on the level of cover you select) for a few months if you lose your job, or you’re unable to work. If you miss enough time from work that your boss fires you, you will normally be able to claim an Eligible Termination Payment, which can keep you going a little longer.
Another kind of insurance to consider is disability insurance. This is insurance that covers you in case you’re afflicted with an acquired disability that affects your ability to earn a living through work. This insurance won’t cover you for -pre-existing disabilities, however, so if you were born with a disability and have lived with it all your life, that particular disability can’t be insured against.
If you think you can’t afford financial protection, think about how much less you can afford to not have it.
If anything were to suddenly change in your life and you were not prepared for it, the wealth you have worked so hard to build could vanish almost instantly. The cost of protecting this wealth is relatively low in comparison, so it definitely makes sense to do so.
Having these insurances means you can face each day with confidence that whatever happens, you will have money to pay for your immediate needs. It can also mean that in the worst case scenario your family can be provided for, your debts can be paid off, and you won’t leave your family with enormous expenses to be paid for.
You know it makes sense, so call Quill today and make an investment in peace of mind.

Here’s what some of our clients have to say!
“Up until recently I haven't' needed a lot of one-on-one advice but when I have, Geoff Burchill has always been very prompt. Recently I have needed some advice regarding retirement and superannuation and Geoff has given me a lot of time. I have had a 15 year relationship with Geoff as my financial advisor and I have always felt my funds are in good hands.”
“Over the last 20 years we have always been very happy with the service Katharine Adderley and the rest of the team have provided for us. We always feel very comfortable and relaxed with the advise they give us.”
“Really happy with your service. Katharine always keep me informed of what is happening. Your visits to Alice is important for me as I think I get more information by having face to face meetings as questions come up that may not happen if on the phone.”
“In my circumstances you are very good for me. You explain things so I can understand easily even if I do get muddled some times. You look after me very well. Trust is a word that means a lot to me & I have trust in you doing the best for me. Thank you .”
